tocapturecastles:Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury, Wiltshire
enchantedengland: Here you see a lovely example of a topiary garden; where the foliage and shrubs are maintained into clearly defined shapes. As an art form, it is a type of living sculpture. This all sounds very impressive until you have spent six sweaty hours with your hedge-clippers trying to shape a bush into a seagull and ended up with a six-inch misshapen blob. (Not that this ever happened to ME or anything) I do like to admire a topiary, but I prefer an English cottage garden for my personal manor house. It’s easier for my invisible gardening staff to maintain.
